Native Americans spent a lot of time on the banks of the Snake River in southwest Idaho. Fish were plentiful and the river valley was a somewhat sheltered environment in cold weather. Since the river was sort of a highway, Indians drew maps on the rocks. And they recorded their exploits in hunting on the boulders.
