As I get older, most everything “reminds me of a story.” So it is with this note about a plan in France to cut way down on cash transactions. For the sake of public safety, of course.

I encountered the suspicion that banks direct at people who withdraw cash when I was visiting frequently to get cash to buy money orders. The teller seemed concerned that I, as a soon-to-be senior citizen, was being bilked by crooks of some kind. Of course instead I could have been involved in an international plot — which would have been a better guess. In truth I was donating to a church in the Caribbean which was raising money for a project.

Leave it to Christians to get caught in the same government net that is being spread for terrorists and drug smugglers.
